WhatsApp for Android Starts Labelling Forwarded Messages !!

By:   TWINKLE VARSHNEY | TECH TALK
The WhatsApp for Android app received a new trial version (2.18.179) that begins to tag messages that you forward to your contacts. There is specifically a "Redirected" tag that will be added to all your redirected messages. This helps create a distinction between forwarded messages and original messages.

The label will be added to the forwarded message to both the recipient and the sender. The last change appears days after launching the media visibility feature in the beta to allow Android users to hide or show the WhatsApp media content from their gallery. This feature was accompanied by a new shortcut in Contacts making it easy for users of the WhatsApp demo to add a new contact.

To see the newly added 'Forwarded' label, you only need to select and forward one of the messages available within the WhatsApp chat. The tag will appear directly above the forwarded message. Significantly, there is no option to disable the tag. This means that you will not be able to remove the label from messages you send to your contacts.

This step may help reduce the circulation of sent messages and spam, as well as help identify which messages are being forwarded better. The label on the forwarded messages was first discovered in February as a Redirected Message.

Because the "redirect" tag is initially available for beta testing, you can try it out by downloading the WhatsApp beta on your Android device. They are available through the Google Play Beta or the APK template.
