A presentation given at CES explains that the fingerprint sensor sits between the glass protector and OLED panel on the X20 Plus UD. The under display technology comes at a time when a rising number of smartphones with edge-to-edge displays are flooding the market. Synaptics had claimed earlier that 70 million units of their under display fingerprint sensors will be made available in 2018.
The Vivo X20 Plus UD is expected to sport similar hardware design and specifications as the previously launched Vivo X20 Plus. Just to recap, the Vivo X20 Plus features a 6.43-inch full-HD+ (1080x2160 pixels) Super AMOLED display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage. The storage is expandable via microSD card (up to 256GB).
